Department Of Hadith & Hadith Sciences

Department of Islamic Studies was established in 1997 and renamed as Department of Hadith & Seerah, & after the establishment of Seerah Studies as a separate department and the Department of Hadith & Hadith Sciences performing its services as a separate department.

Introduction

The Department of Hadith & Hadith Sciences focuses on the study of Hadith and Sunnah of the Prophet (S.A.W) their collections, preservation, authentication and their interpretation as a source of knowledge & guidance for man’s spiritual & moral need as an individual in society. It intends to enable students to work diligently and function benevolently in all avenues of life. The Department of Hadith & Hadith Sciences is committed to restore the full meaning of education by offering an opportunity to study comprehensively and critically and to train students to develop the strong nation with Islamic values and ethics. The department is preparing and offering different programs for specialization in Hadith & Hadith Sciences to its students.

Objectives

 

  • To establish a cadre of specialists and professionals in Hadith Studies who can provide effective leadership in guiding and conducting quality research in Hadith Sciences discipline
  • To prepare the scholars to work in the fields of knowledge and da'wah for the unity and solidarity of Muslim ummah.
  • To equip the students with high Islamic moral values ​​in the light of Hadith.
  • To teach Islamic Studies from Matric to PhD level as per contemporary requirements.
  • To equip students with understanding of the origins and development of Islamic Thought and its relevance to modern issues.
  • To conduct advance research on the different aspects of Hadith Sciences.
  • To play active role in correct interpretation of Islamic Sciences for the needs of the society.
  • To develop linkage among different highly reputed national and international institutions offering Islamic Studies program at higher level.
  • To prepare the textbooks and study guides for Matric to PhD level programs.
  • To organize national and international workshops/seminars/conferences on Islamic Sciences specially in Hadith & Hadith Sciences.

Author of many research articles, Books & Prepared Scheme of Studies for many Programs of Islamic Studies.
Supervised more than 100 M.Phil. / Ph.D. students.
Member of Editorial/advisory boards of many research journals.
Awarded two Presidential “Seerat” Awards (1986 and 1987) by Ministry of Religious Affairs, Govt. of Pakistan.
Founding Editor of HEC Approved Indexing Agency “Islamic Research Index” (IRI).
