Introduction
The Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) was established in Faculty of Education, Allama Iqbal Open University. The Center has been established with the aim of fostering a culture of continuous professional and personal development, aligned with global trends and national priorities in lifelong learning. Guided by its mandate, CLL is committed to serving as a hub for lifelong learning, research, capacity building, and innovative learning initiatives across diverse sectors.
Functions of the Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL)
The CLL will perform the following functions.
- Designing and conducting research and development for lifelong learning activities
- Development and execution of plans / strategies for lifelong learning programs
- Development and implementation of courses/programs for lifelong learners through blended/online/face-to-face mode in collaboration with university departments and other organizations.
- Engagement in policy dialogue and advocacy with the government and other stakeholders of lifelong learning.
- Promote lifelong learning in the country through awareness, advocacy and recognition
- Developing strategy for the engagement, participation and mobilization of the community in lifelong learning activities
- Collaboration with Public Private Partners, and national and international agencies to foster CLL activities
- Monitoring and evaluation of lifelong learning activities offered through CLL
- Capacity building of the staff of lifelong learning programs and other stakeholders for the strengthening and sustainability of lifelong learning
- Integrating lifelong learning activities with resources from the community, education, health and other sectors of the society
- Information and guidance services for lifelong learners.

Objectives
Major objectives of establishing Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at Allama Iqbal Open University are the following.
- To provide a platform for policy dialogue and developing policy framework on Lifelong Learning.
- To raise awareness and advocacy for lifelong learning.
- To develop and implement various programs and activities for lifelong learning and recognition of prior learning.
- To collaborate with national and international organizations and do joint ventures to foster efforts of CLL
- To conduct research and development activities on literacy, lifelong learning and related issues
- To offer capacity building activities for AIOU academic and non-academic employees
In line with these objectives, the dynamic faculty members from different departments have designed the offered short courses.
Academic Facilities
The Center offers face to face and online facilities for promotion of lifelong learning education. It includes digital platform i.e. Learning Management System, provision of learning materials, online workshops, well-equipped training rooms, and digital support system.
