Introduction
The courses of the program will build up the knowledge and skills of the students about entrepreneurship in early education sector. The courses are aimed at developing the attitude and skills of students about initiating and sustaining educational change within society using the entrepreneurial principles, process and skills. It would also assist students to understand the process of achieving the objectives of education system in early years educational institutions through effective entrepreneurial leadership; and realize the role of stakeholders in the education industry. This program will help entrepreneurs, teachers, managers, investors and consultants to identify and avail an opportunity to launch or improve an early childhood educational venture, program, product and/or service. The program will use an interactive approach involving the use of study guides, assignments, workshops, and preparation of action plan and business plan in workshops and course assignments.
Objectives of the Program
The objectives of the program are given below:
- Assist students to interpret basic concepts and processes involved in education entrepreneurship/intraprenuership.
- Provide students the knowledge, strategies and techniques to become qualified entrepreneurs in early childhood education sector.
- Enable students to assess the application of elements of entrepreneurial process in a variety of business and organizational contexts in the early education sector.
- Equip students with entrepreneurial skills so that they can identify a new opportunity for a new early childhood and education venture or design program, service or product for early childhood sector.
- Train students in pursuing their career in early education sector.
- Help students to adapt entrepreneurial process to lead growth and innovation in the education industry.
- Facilitate mangers, entrepreneurs, investors and consultants in early childhood and education sector to analyze and avail any opportunity for education innovation.
Assessment
The assignments, quiz and the semester examination will serve as assessment components for each course except internship. Internship will offer students the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience for various aspects of education entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship.
Future prospects of the Programme
After the successful completion of Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Entrepreneurship in Early Childhood Care & Education, the students will be able to launch/operate their own early childhood/care centre, early childhood school or allied business in the early childhood and education sector. They would also be able to lead the education ventures due to competency in the elements and process of entrepreneurship for the early childhood education industry. As the programme involves the application of concepts of entrepreneurship in a variety of contexts in the education sector, the students can also serve as agents for change/innovation in early years settings, schools and allied business in this sector.

Teaching Methodology
Open and Distance Learning (ODL)/online learning/blended mode will be adopted for teaching-learning process in the programme. The workshop for each course will comprise of 12 hours, with 2 hours daily for 6 days except internship as per AIOU policy. Each semester will have workshop for the courses offered in that particular semester. It is applicable to all the semesters of this program as per AIOU policy.
