Program Objectives
The objectives of the program are to:
- Provide students with knowledge, skills, and practice to analyse and solve educational and managerial problems.
- Prepare educational leaders for educational institutions.
- Provide training in research methods appropriate to ELM
- Inculcate professional and ethical values among the students
- Identify and reflect upon the key leadership and management challenges, problems, and issues in education.
Scope
The field of educational leadership and management (ELM) has broad scope with many competing perspectives. It covers different aspects of ELM for example theories of leadership, innovation and change, leadership styles and diversity, educational technology etc. This competitive two-year degree is suitable for candidates who display intellectual curiosity and have balanced academic excellence with co-curricular diversity. Additionally, the degree also provides an opportunity for participants (teacher, principles, administrators of education) to develop specialized research skills in the area of ELM. The program offers challenging curricula, a variety of teaching-learning methodologies and a supportive academic environment to meet its objectives. It combines rigorous academics with practical training enabling students to think critically and innovatively about the educational landscape in Pakistan.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants for MPhil (ELM) must possess BS (SLM/ELM) Degree at least with 2nd division.
- Students possessing MA-ELM are also eligible to apply.
- Students having MA-EPM & Education (in any specialization other than MA ELM) must possess PGD ELM to apply.
- Students having MA in Management Sciences must also possess PGD-ELM to apply.
Selection Process
Eligible applicants need to appear in the admission test and interview to get admission. Selection of the candidates will be made strictly on the basis of merit/criteria laid down by the Department/ University.

Workshop
Online classes are conducted for all courses. Moreover, two weeks workshop is compulsory to attend for synopsis development at Islamabad campus of AIOU.
Thesis
After completing course work students enroll in research thesis. Synopsis is developed and presented in the Departmental Research Proposal Committee (DRPC) after two-week synopsis workshop at Islamabad. Approved topics and allotted supervisor are notified by BASR on recommendation of DRPC.
