Introduction
Microorganisms are ubiquitous and vital to life, contributing to essential processes like nutrient recycling, detoxification, and renewable energy capture, while also being used for producing food, medicines, and industrial products. Advances in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics have revolutionized our understanding of life at the molecular level, enabling innovations in disease diagnosis, treatment, and drug development.
The Program has a multidisciplinary approach, comprising fields like medicine, agriculture, industry and nanotechnology, enabling microbiologists and molecular biologists to address challenges like antibiotic resistance, engineering desired traits in organisms, and developing diagnostic tools. antibiotic resistance, engineering desired traits in organisms, and developing diagnostic tools
Objectives:
- To develop scientific and technical expertise to use microbial resources and human genetic information for the betterment and development of mankind.
- To develop expertise in designing, conducting and presenting original research in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics.
- To introduce improved and more efficient use of microbial diversity and exploiting underlying molecular genetics mechanisms.
