Education Round Table
On November 1, 2023 Roman Porozov, Associate Professor of Philosophy, Sociology and Cultural Studies Department, made a report at the Faculty of Education of Allama Iqbal Open University (Islamabad, Pakistan) in person. The title of the report was «Sociological and Cultural Studies in Russia and Pakistan».
Roman Porozov began his report by explaining the features of pedagogical education in Russia in general and at Ural State Pedagogical University in particular. He gave an overview of Ural State Pedagogical University scientific and research potential taking into account the high technical and infrastructural support of the university.
After it Roman Porozov shared his experience of independent and collective participation in scientific sociological and cultural research including international participation. He explained the specifics of preparing a research project as it is customary in the national academic tradition.
Roman Porozov spoke about the ongoing projects conducted under the internal grant of Ural State Pedagogical University «Education System in Russia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan: Comparative Study and Mechanisms for Further Cooperation», supervised by Alena Postnikova, Associate Professor of General History and Methods of Teaching Historical Disciplines Department. This research in particular includes surveys on the demand for teacher training and the image of teacher training among Pakistani students.
Pakistani teachers were most interested in the opportunity to participate in scientific journals published at Ural State Pedagogical University, to conduct grant research in Russian-Pakistani teams with the support of domestic scientific funds. Pakistani colleagues were also interested in the issues of conducting research related to the phenomena of historical memory, research on emotional intelligence, value challenges of modern society, and special education.
Roman Porozov finished his report with possible prospects for joint Russian-Pakistani research in the field of pedagogical sciences.
