Introduction

Distance education has primarily enabled students to develop technical skills, approach problem solving more pragmatically, and to learn information while remaining at their homes/workplaces. B. Ed (4 Years) Distance and Non-formal Education gives prospective teachers the flexibility to study online. This program is aligned with Undergraduate Education Policy (2023) of HEC. This will impart andragogical and pedagogical knowledge, practical skills, and professional training to enable prospective teachers to creatively contribute to the social, cultural, and educational development of a globally oriented, pluralistic, and diverse society. It will not only provide a direction to general education but will also ensure that those who intend to opt teaching as a profession will be offered general courses, interdisciplinary courses, practical field experiences, and a capstone project. This will equip prospective teachers with essential professional skills, knowledge, values and a professional attitude to meet the educational demands in their career avenues.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum entry requirement for admission is as follows:

  1. FA/F.Sc./A levels or equivalent.
  2. Applicants with A level or other certificates will submit an equivalence certificate.

Selection Process

Open Merit. All eligible candidates will be granted admission subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

EXIT AFTER 2 YEARS

Students may opt for an exit as per HEC Undergraduate Education Policy 2023 after successful completion of 4 semesters (initial two years) of the program. The student will be awarded an Associate Degree in Education (ADE). 

Teaching Methodology

A student has to attempt two assignments, workshop and final examination for each course per semester and has to secure 50% aggregate to successfully complete the degree.

CONTENT CLUSTERS

  • A Content cluster is a set of 5 courses having 4 content courses and a pedagogy. These 5 courses must be completed in the 5th, 6th, and 7th semester according to the scheme of studies.
  • A student has to select any two Content clusters as (C1 & C2) in the 5th semester from the list of clusters given below. The Content clusters once chosen in the 5th semester as C1 & C2 cannot be changed in the 6th and 7th semester. Therefore, courses of the same clusters will continue in 6th and 7th semester.

Workshop

The workshop for each course will comprise of 12 hours, with 2 hours daily for 6 days as per AIOU policy.
